| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George IV, engraved by William Wyon after the second portrait type, occupying the central field with finely rendered curly hair and a naturalistic truncation of the neck. The portrait is set within a toothed border, with the Latin legend GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA disposed around the periphery, interrupted at the base by the date, here shown as 1826. The modelling is of high artistic quality, characteristic of Wyon's neoclassical style, with strong relief and clean facial features. Two small dots flank the date at the base of the bust truncation. |
