Additional information

The Isle of Man's annual Cat coinage program, launched in 1988, shifted feline subjects each year — the Turkish Van appeared in 1995, part of a collector-driven series that made the Treasury's bullion and proof issues a reliable annual revenue stream throughout the 1990s. Produced by Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Treasury, these pieces were struck in fractional gold weights calibrated to match half-troy-ounce bullion formats without technically claiming that denomination.

KM#445 corresponds to the proof issue. The .9999 fineness places it among the purest gold strikes Pobjoy produced at that time.
