The "Look to Norway" phrase originates from King Haakon VII's BBC broadcast of 1940, delivered after the German invasion forced the Norwegian government into exile in London. It became a rallying call across occupied Europe. Gibraltar's tie to the Battle of the Atlantic is direct — the Strait was a chokepoint for Allied convoy routes, and the Rock's naval facilities were critical to anti-submarine operations throughout the campaign.
Part of Gibraltar's extended Battle of the Atlantic commemorative series, which spread across multiple years and subjects. KM#1571 is a relatively low-mintage silver issue in that run.
