Reverse description Crowned quartered royal shield of arms within an ornate cartouche, displaying the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (lion rampant), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (harp), each quarter rendered in the boldly cut style typical of Kilkenny emergency coinage. The shield is surmounted by a crown and flanked by the monarch's initials C and R (Carolus Rex). The reverse legend CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO ('I reign under the auspices of Christ') runs around the periphery within a beaded border, affirming the royalist and Confederate Catholic allegiance of the issuing authority.
