Obverse description Fourth laureate and draped bust of King Charles II facing right, engraved by John Roettier, with long flowing hair falling to the shoulder and a knotted drapery visible at the truncation. The king's effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the laurel wreath and curled locks. The circular Latin legend is divided by the portrait, reading CAROLVS·II·DEI·GRATIA, with a toothed border around the coin's rim.
