Obverse description Central device features the sacred Shankha (conch shell), the royal emblem of Travancore, depicted in high relief with ornate scrollwork and a stylised flame finial above. The conch is flanked on either side by a graceful sprig of leaves tied at the base with a ribbon bow, forming a wreath-like frame around the central emblem. The peripheral legend in Malayalam script reads THIRUVANANTHAPURAM ARRUPYA CHITRA (Travancore Half Rupee Chitra), disposed around the full circumference of the field. Small floral rosette stops separate the lower legend elements, and the entire design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border.
