Beschrijving voorzijde	A large five-pointed star in raised relief occupies the central field, its bold geometric form rendered with deeply incised facets. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs around the periphery, with the date 1853 appearing at the base flanked by two raised dots. The entire design is contained within a beaded border that runs continuously around the coin's inner rim. The composition is simple and heraldic in character, reflecting the republican iconography prevalent on Chilean coinage of the mid-nineteenth century.

Beschrijving keerzijde	The denomination MEDIO CENTAVO is inscribed in two lines within the center of the field, enclosed by a wreath of two olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, with a small star appearing below the knot. The peripheral legend ECONOMIA ES RIQUEZA (meaning 'Economy is Wealth') encircles the wreath, reading continuously around the coin. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design. The composition exemplifies the moralistic motto coinage policy adopted by Chile for its minor copper issues of this era.
