| 裏面の説明 | Central field bears the two-line denomination inscription MEDIO CENTAVO in serifed capital letters, enclosed within an open wreath of laurel or olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The circumferential legend ECONOMIA ES RIQUEZA, meaning 'Economy is Wealth,' runs along the upper and lateral periphery, separated from the wreath by raised dots. The entire design is contained within a plain linear border, reflecting the austere republican aesthetic of Chile's earliest copper coinage. |

Chile's early republican coinage was plagued by chronic copper shortages and inconsistent planchet quality throughout the 1830s, with the Santiago mint struggling to meet demand for fractional currency in a country still consolidating its institutions after independence from Spain in 1818. The 1835 half centavo was struck in extraordinarily small numbers; KM#114 survivors are scarce in any condition, and most examples show significant planchet flaws that originated before the dies ever touched the blank.
