| Obverse description | Central field displays the British East India Company coat of arms with full supporters: a rampant lion at left and a rampant lion at right, each flanking a quartered shield. A crowned lion passant gardant appears atop the shield as a crest, grasping a crown between its forepaws. The date appears in the exergue below the shield. A continuous beaded border frames the entire design. |
