| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central device depicts the Siege Perilous (Seggio Pericoloso), rendered as an elaborate Gothic throne or high-backed seat enveloped in flames, set upon a stepped architectural base with columned supports. This emblematic device, associated with the Arthurian legend and adopted as a personal impresa by Ferdinando II, is shown in fine relief typical of Neapolitan hammered coinage of the late fifteenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design within a beaded border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Ferdinando II reclaimed Naples in 1495 with French forces retreating at his back, but he died the following year at twenty-eight, leaving this issue among the shortest-reigned coinages of the Aragonese succession. The armellino — the ermine — was his personal impresa, adopted as a symbol of purity and sovereign legitimacy at a moment when his claim was anything but secure.
The type is scarce precisely because the window of production was under twelve months.
