Obverse description Central field displays a crowned aragonese escutcheon divided diagonally by a band bearing an ermine (armellino), the heraldic device that gives the coin its popular name. The shield is flanked by decorative floral rosettes and a mintmaster's letter T at the base. A linear inner circle frames the central device, with the royal Latin legend running along the outer border between beaded rims.
