Descripción del reverso The reverse presents the denomination at center within a wreath composed of an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right, tied at the base with a ribbon. The inscriptions MEDIO BOLIVIANO appear at the top of the central field, below which the large numeral 50 and the word CENTAVOS are prominently displayed. Beneath a horizontal rule, the fineness notation 10/12 FINO is inscribed, with the Heaton mint mark H below; the date 1909 appears in the lower exergue. The peripheral legend LA UNION ES LA FUERZA (Unity is strength) encircles the design within a beaded border.

Información adicional

Bolivia's silver coinage of this period was struck under contract at the Potosí mint, once the most prolific silver producer in the colonial world but by the early twentieth century a facility struggling to meet even modest domestic demand. The 1909 issue falls within a short window of transitional monetary policy as Bolivia worked to align its fractional silver with regional Latin American standards following decades of monetary instability tied to the collapse of the silver price internationally after 1873.

KM#177 is frequently found with uneven luster across the fields — a known characteristic of Potosí striking technique at this date, not post-mint damage.
