Reverse description Central field bearing the royal crowned Gothic monogram of Juan I of Castile, surmounted by a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis, all struck in low relief characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the period. The monogram occupies the majority of the flan within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circumferential legend reads CATA MUNDI MISERE N, a partial liturgical invocation in Latin requesting divine mercy, consistent with the Agnus Dei devotional theme of the issue.
