Obverse description Central field displays a peacock facing left in low relief, rendered in a stylized decorative manner characteristic of Georgian hammered coinage of the early 18th century. The bird's plumage and tail feathers are indicated by bold, deeply struck lines, giving the figure a vigorous if somewhat crude artistic quality. Mkhedruli script characters appear in the field surrounding the peacock, reading the abbreviated royal name of King Bakar. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-hammered production, with a granular copper surface showing natural oxidation patina.
