(Translation: Hailé Selassié I, King of Kings of Ethiopia)
Reverse description The Lion of Judah passant to the right, wearing an imperial crown and carrying a processional cross-topped staff or sceptre from which a banner unfurls, set against a plain field. Two six-pointed stars are positioned in the lower field flanking the lion. A Ge'ez legend encircles the design along the upper border, and the denomination inscription in Ge'ez script appears in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a milled border, and the high-relief rendering of the lion's mane and musculature is consistent with a pattern or proof-quality strike.
