Additional information

Otto Henry and Philip ruled Palatinate-Neuburg jointly after their father Rupert died in 1508, leaving them minors under regency. The duchy itself was newly created — carved out of the Rhenish Palatinate in 1505 following the War of the Bavarian Succession, settled by the Treaty of Cologne. This coin belongs to the earliest phase of the duchy's independent minting activity, when the two brothers were still ruling as co-lords before Philip's death in 1541 and Otto Henry's eventual inheritance of the Palatinate electorate itself in 1556.
