Additional information

John Christopher of Westerstetten's episcopate at Eichstätt coincided with the Thirty Years' War at its most destructive, and small silver fractions like this were struck specifically because larger denominations had become hoarded or melted. Eichstätt itself was occupied and plundered by Swedish forces in 1634, which almost certainly terminated this issue — the Cahn reference places it among the scarcest of the bishop's coinage types.
