Obverse description Central shield bearing the arms of Schwyz — a plain field — surmounted by a crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, the whole set within a beaded inner border. The circular legend MONETA SVITENSIS runs around the periphery in Latin capitals, interrupted by pellet stops. The hammered flan exhibits characteristic irregular edges and uneven surfaces typical of 16th-century Swiss municipal coinage.
