| Obverse description | The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Panama in the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing crossed swords and rifle in the upper quarters, a cornucopia and winged wheel in the lower quarters, and a central horizontal band representing the Isthmus with two ships. The shield is supported by a spread eagle above and flanked by nine stars along a banner inscribed PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO. The legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA arcs along the upper periphery, with a row of nine five-pointed stars below it. The denomination MEDIO BALBOA is inscribed along the lower rim in bold lettering. |
