Aanvullende informatie

Pius VII returned to Rome in 1814 after five years of French captivity — Napoleon had him arrested in 1809 following the annexation of the Papal States. The coinage reforms that followed restoration were deliberate reassertions of temporal authority, with the baiocco system reinstated to replace the decimal French issues that had briefly circulated through occupied territories.

KM#1277 is the wreath-inscription type, distinct from the earlier busted issues of the same reign.
