Obverse description Papal coat of arms of Clement XI displayed on a baroque heraldic shield, divided into two quarters: the upper field bears an eight-pointed star, and the lower field depicts two mountains surmounted by a small figure. The shield is surmounted by the papal tiara with crossed keys below it, and flanked by elaborate foliate and scrollwork mantling. The circumferential legend runs around the entire periphery of the coin, interrupted by star stops, within a milled border.
