Obverse description Central papal shield displaying the heraldic arms of Pope Benedict XIV, surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and the crossed keys of Saint Peter. The escutcheon is supported by elaborate acanthus scrollwork or mantling on either side, rendered in low relief. No legend appears on this face. The overall composition is characteristic of Papal States coinage of the mid-eighteenth century.

Reverse description A wide architectural portal — the Holy Door (Porta Santa) — depicted frontally, with two flanking columns supporting an arched entryway through which radiate prominent sunbeams emanating from a central point, symbolising divine grace. The arch is surmounted by decorative volutes. A circular legend in Latin runs along the periphery of the field, referencing the Jubilee year. This reverse type was struck specifically to commemorate the Holy Year of 1750 proclaimed by Pope Benedict XIV.
