Reverse description The reverse displays the dynastic arms of Awadh at centre, comprising a shield charged with a fish and crossed swords below, flanked by two rampant fish supporters and surmounted by a crown with two flanking standards bearing pennants. This heraldic device, adopted by the Nawabs of Awadh, is encircled by a continuous Arabic-script legend in Nasta'liq giving the mint name Banaras and the auspicious regnal year formula, with the variable regnal year noted in the lower field. Pellet ornaments fill the spaces between the legend and the central device.
