Pakistan's earliest coinage was struck under emergency arrangements at the Royal Mint in London and the Calcutta Mint, as the newly independent state had no mint of its own at Partition in 1947. The crescent orientation became a minor administrative variable across early issues, resulting in documented left- and right-opening varieties that were never officially differentiated in government releases but are now catalogued separately by collectors.

The "Mint Sport" designation flags this as an unintended die variation rather than a deliberate type.
