| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold, centrally struck Persian or nagari inscription set within a rectangular cartouche or panel, framed by a raised linear border. The main device comprises a large curved calligraphic character, possibly the regnal or mint mark of Ahalya Bai's Holkar administration, rendered in strong relief. Two horizontal lines above the central device divide the field into distinct registers, a layout characteristic of Indore hammered copper issues. The flan surface shows natural copper corrosion patina with areas of green and brown oxidation consistent with prolonged circulation. The irregular flan edge and uneven strike are typical of late eighteenth-century Indore mint production. |
