Obverse description Central field occupied by a bold, interlaced Arabic calligraphic inscription arranged in multiple lines, bearing the royal titles and name of Imam Ahmad. The legends radiate outward from the center in a characteristic Yemeni calligraphic style, with the mint name reading outward toward the dentilated border. The entire design is enclosed within a raised circular rim with fine milling.

Reverse description Central medallion containing the Islamic shahada in Arabic calligraphy: 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God), surrounded by a raised circular border. An outer annular band carries the denomination, the Hijri date, and additional royal titulature in Arabic script. The whole is framed by a dentilated outer rim.
