| Obverse description | Large cursive royal cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex) in the central field, surmounted by an elaborate St. Edward's Crown. The monogram is encircled by a wreath of laurel tied with a ribbon bow at the base. The date '1796' appears in the upper field, divided at the apex by the crown, with '17' to the left and '96' to the right. The coin features a fine milled border throughout. |
