Aanvullende informatie

Frederick III of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp was only eleven years old in 1617, ruling under regency following the death of his father John Adolf the previous year. This fractional thaler belongs to the regency coinage issued in his name — a period when the duchy's finances were being managed by administrators rather than the duke himself. The Thirty Years' War was still a year away from igniting, but the political fractures that would define that conflict were already visible in the divided Holstein territories.
