Obverse description Central device comprising a bow, a quiver of arrows, and an upright flag on a staff, arranged diagonally across the field in a heraldic grouping emblematic of the State of Jalisco. The surrounding legend ESTADO LIBRE DE JALISCO is inscribed along the upper periphery in Latin characters, interrupted and flanked by star ornaments. The date 1861 appears in the lower exergual area, likewise flanked by stars. The coin's border is defined by a fine toothed or reeded rim.
