| Obverse description | The oval flan bears a multi-line Persian legend in bold Naskh script filling the field, invoking the name and titles of the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. The calligraphy is arranged in flowing, interlocking lines characteristic of late Mughal hammered coinage, with no border ornament. The irregular flan edge is typical of hand-struck issues of the Bombay Presidency. |
