Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, rendered in the Young Head portrait designed by William Wyon, with flowing hair swept back and secured by a decorative fillet or band. The hair is elaborately arranged in soft waves falling to the nape, with a coiled chignon at the rear. The Latin legend encircles the bust along the periphery, interrupted by the date at the lower exergue. A fine toothed border frames the entire obverse field.
