Aanvullende informatie

Jobst Edmund von Brabeck became Prince-Bishop of Hildesheim in 1688 after a contested election and spent much of his episcopate navigating the political pressures of the War of the Grand Alliance, during which Lower Saxony saw significant troop movements and financial strain. Small-denomination silver issues like this 1⁄12 Thaler were workhorses of regional commerce, and Hildesheim's mint output during his reign reflects a diocese trying to maintain monetary credibility under difficult imperial circumstances. The bishopric had been a flashpoint of confessional conflict since the Thirty Years' War, and its coinage carried political weight beyond its modest size.
