Reuss-Untergreiz was among the smallest of the fragmented Reuss territories in Thuringia, where the peculiar dynastic custom of naming every male heir Heinrich — numbered sequentially across all branches simultaneously — produced one of the most confusing genealogies in the Holy Roman Empire. The Heinrich ruling Untergreiz in 1753 was Heinrich XI, his numeral reflecting not personal succession but a count shared across living Reuss males at the time of his birth.
The 1⁄12 Thaler denomination was a practical subdivision for regional commerce, though Untergreiz's tiny land area and modest court meant output was limited. Schm&Knab 374 is not a common attribution in dealer inventories.
