附加信息	Frederick III of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg died in March 1772 after a reign of nearly four decades, and this issue was struck as a memorial piece in the tradition of German Protestant courts, which had long used small silver mourning coins as dynastic statements distributed at funeral observances. With Frederick's death ending the direct male line, the duchy eventually passed through a complex succession dispute that was only resolved by the Congress of Vienna.
