Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Frederick II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg facing right, wearing a long flowing allonge wig and elaborately decorated armored pauldron with ornamental scrollwork. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine baroque detailing. The surrounding legend reads FRIDER·II·D·G·DVX SAXO-GOTH· in Latin characters, distributed along the upper and right periphery of the coin. The field is smooth, and the coin is bordered by a finely milled edge.
