A continuous circular legend surrounds the inscription, reading 'CLEMENS. AVG. D. G. EP. PAD. & MON. C. COL. V. BAV. AC. S. P. DVX', identifying the issuer as Clemens August, by the grace of God Bishop of Paderborn and Münster, Elector of Cologne, Duke of Bavaria and Westphalia. The lettering is neatly spaced with dot separators between the abbreviated titles. The overall composition is well-centred and typical of early eighteenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage. |
