Obverse description Central field dominated by the interlaced royal cypher of Gustav IV Adolf — the letters G and A surmounted by the Roman numeral IV — all beneath a large royal crown. Three smaller crowns, the heraldic emblem of Sweden, are positioned at the left, right, and bottom of the field, flanking the monogram. The entire design is set within a toothed or grained border running the full circumference of the coin. No legend is present; the monogram and crowns constitute the sole decorative and identifying elements.

Additional information

Gustav IV Adolf's reign ended in humiliation — deposed in a military coup in 1809 after Sweden's catastrophic loss of Finland to Russia, a territorial concession that permanently redrew the country's borders. The Avesta mint, Sweden's primary copper producer drawing on the great Falun mine's output, struck this small denomination throughout the years leading directly to that collapse. Copper coinage of this period circulated hard in rural Sweden and survivors in problem-free condition are genuinely scarce.
