Reverse description The quartered royal coat of arms of France and Navarre, differenced for the Principality of Catalonia, is displayed prominently in the center of the field beneath a large open crown adorned with fleurs-de-lis and arches. The shield is divided into quarters showing the fleurs-de-lis of France and the chains of Navarre, with vertical stripes at the base consistent with Aragonese heraldry. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, incorporating the date 1642, and identifying Louis XIII as Prince of Catalonia. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner rim.
