Aanvullende informatie

Anna Maria Louise d'Orléans — the Grande Mademoiselle, as she was known — held the Dombes principality as part of her Montpensier inheritance and exercised genuine seigneurial minting rights there throughout the mid-seventeenth century. Her coinage is among the few French feudal series struck under a woman's authority in this period, not as regent but as sovereign princess in her own right. The "3rd type" designation reflects die modifications introduced over the course of her long tenure, the earlier types being considerably scarcer.
