| Obverse description | A coiled imperial dragon rendered in high relief occupies the central field, encircled by a beaded inner border. The dragon is depicted with open jaws, scaly body, and clawed feet, consistent with the Meiji-era numismatic dragon type. Chinese characters in traditional regular script are arranged around the periphery between the beaded border and the dentilated outer rim, reading the denomination (一分十), the issuing authority (大日本), and the reign era date (明治三年). Two raised dots serve as decorative separators within the legend. |
