Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central circular hole surrounded by a raised ring, with the denomination legend ONE TENTH OF A PENNY arcing across the upper field within a decorative scroll cartouche, surmounted by a royal crown at the top. The monarch's name and title GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX appear in Latin as the outer legend, distributed around the full circumference of the coin. Below the central hole, the Arabic legend عشر البني (one tenth of a penny) is inscribed in the lower field, reflecting the bilingual character of the coinage for use in British West African territories. The entire design is framed by a beaded border. No royal effigy is present; the design is purely typographic and symbolic.
