Obverse lettering NEDERL. INDIE. 1/10 G 1882.
(Translation: Netherlands East Indies)
Reverse description The reverse presents a bold central inscription in Jawi (Arabic-script Malay) reading 'sepersepuluh rupiah' (one tenth gulden), rendered in large, flowing calligraphic characters that dominate the field. Encircling the central text is a ring of Javanese script legend, separated from the outer border by a beaded or dotted inner circle. A small six-pointed star ornament appears at the top of the coin above the circular Javanese legend. The overall design is entirely typographic, with no figurative imagery, reflecting the bilingual administrative character of the Netherlands East Indies coinage.
