Reverse description Central shield bearing three fleurs-de-lis, the traditional arms of the French monarchy, surmounted by an ornate royal crown with fleurons and jeweled band. The shield is flanked symmetrically by two laurel and olive branches tied at the base, their sprays curving upward to frame the crowned escutcheon. The date appears within the encircling legend, which reads BENEDICTVM · SIT · NOMEN · DOMINI, a devotional motto meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord.' A mint letter appears at the base of the reverse field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
