Obverse description The national coat of arms of Panama occupies the central field, rendered in detail with its characteristic quartered shield supported by flanking elements. A curved legend reading REPVBLICA DE PANAMA arcs across the upper periphery, while nine five-pointed stars are arranged in a row below the arms, referencing the nine provinces of Panama. An ornamental wreath frames the lower portion of the design, with the date 1982 inscribed within the exergual area. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised rim typical of milled coinage.

Reverse description The reverse is entirely blank, comprising a plain, uniface field with no design, legend, or devices struck upon it, consistent with the uniface piefort pattern designation. The raised rim present on the obverse continues on this side, framing the unadorned surface. This absence of design is intentional, confirming the experimental and pattern nature of this piefort strike.
