Additional information

Panama has no central bank and uses the U.S. dollar as its primary circulating currency — the Balboa exists only in coin form, legally pegged 1:1 to the dollar since the Monetary Agreement of 1904. These small-denomination pieces circulate interchangeably alongside U.S. dimes, which share nearly identical specifications, making them functionally invisible in everyday commerce on both sides of the border.
