| Reverse description | The armored bust of Vasco Núñez de Balboa, the Spanish conquistador and explorer, faces left, depicted wearing a period helmet and armor in a classical portrait style. The bust is framed by a laurel and floral wreath, with the right branch of the wreath bearing four flowers on KM#127.1 and three flowers on KM#127.2. The denomination legend arcs along the upper periphery, reading VN DECIMO on the earliest issues (1996, 2001) and UN DECIMO on later strikes (2008 onward), with dots serving as dividers between words. The overall design is reminiscent of the earlier Balboa coinage tradition, maintaining continuity with Panama's numismatic heritage. |
