| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the diamond-shaped REF (Réseau des Émetteurs Français) logo at left, overlapping a stylized terrestrial globe depicted with meridian and parallel gridlines occupying the right portion of the design. Two crossed lightning bolts radiate diagonally across the field, symbolizing radio transmission, while concentric arc lines in the background evoke radio waves. The numeral 83 appears prominently at lower left, referencing the organization's founding department or chapter number. The legend 25e ANNIVERSAIRE arcs along the upper rim, flanked by a border of twelve five-pointed stars, with the founding and commemorative dates 1972 and 1997 inscribed at the lower rim separated by stars. |

The Réseau des Émetteurs Français is a French amateur radio operators' association, and these brass pieces were struck for internal club use — essentially scrip for transactions at radio rallies and swap meets. They occupy an odd classificatory space: not legal tender, not purely medallic, but functioning local exchange tokens within a defined community. The 1997 date places this squarely in the run-up to euro adoption, which gave the denomination its provocative logic.
