This note was issued during the November Uprising — the Polish insurrection against Russian rule that began in late 1830. The Kasa Generalna was the financial instrument of the revolutionary government, issuing paper currency to fund a military campaign that ultimately collapsed by September 1831 when Russian forces retook Warsaw. Notes of this series were declared void by the Russian authorities immediately after suppression, which makes survival in any condition a function of concealment rather than careful storage.
Three signatures were required for validity. The unusually high denomination suggests this was never intended for ordinary retail transactions.
