Obverse description The obverse is oriented vertically in Japanese reading order, with the issuer's name 朝鮮銀行 (Bank of Chosen) and denomination 千圓 inscribed in classical Chinese characters across the upper and central fields. To the right, an intaglio portrait of an elderly bearded man in traditional headgear is set within a plain rectangular vignette. To the left, a large circular guilloche rosette centred on a stylised floral motif occupies the mid-field, overlaid with a bold red 見本 (Specimen) overprint and a red oval seal. The border consists of fine engraved floral and scroll ornament with corner numerals indicating the denomination.
