Belarus issued this note under the "zaichiki" series — a colloquial name derived from the animals printed on the lower denominations, which stuck to the whole family of early post-Soviet Belarusian currency. The 1,000 rublëy was a creature of hyperinflation: by 1994, the ruble had collapsed so severely that denominations once considered large had become bus-fare currency. This note spans the 1992–1994 window precisely because the printing authority kept reissuing without redesigning, simply extending dated ranges as the monetary situation deteriorated.
The Pick reference A30 places it in the transitional pre-National Bank sequence, before Belarus formalized its central banking legislation.
